Dr Andrew Tay

Dr Andrew George Tay is a consultant plastic surgeon who graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1990. After completing his basic surgical training, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995.

Subsequently, he underwent training in the specialty of plastic surgery at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), and was awarded the Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship to further his training in plastic surgery and the subspecialty of craniomaxillofacial surgery at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland.

Upon his return to Singapore in 2002, he was admitted to the Register of Specialists and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He was appointed as a consultant plastic surgeon at SGH in 2003, and commenced private practice at Pacific Healthcare Specialist Centre in 2006.

He maintains his ties with the public healthcare sector as a visiting consultant to SGH and Changi General Hospital. In addition, he is also a clinical tutor at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

His main clinical interests are in cosmetic surgery of the face and body, craniomaxillofacial surgery (reconstructive surgery of the facial skeleton), and in the management of facial trauma. Besides serving as a member of the AO Centre Executive Committee (Craniomaxillofacial Surgery), he also participates actively as a member of the AO international teaching faculty for craniomaxillofacial courses.

He was formerly the Treasurer of the Singapore Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Singapore Society of Cosmetic (Aesthetic) Surgeons, and continues to be an active member of both organizations.

Dr Tay has always had a keen interest in clinical and laboratory research, including the fields of skin and cartilage regeneration, and craniomaxillofacial trauma. These have been presented at international medical conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Tissue Engineering.
